BankOfIndia.com hosts spyware and trojans

Another story worth reading out today is about Bank Of India. I wanted to write this short note so all you guys are aware of to avoid this site for atleast this whole week. And to alarm the owners of bank websites to take precautions such that innocent user doesnt bear the brunt of their neglect.

All it takes is a simple firewall and antivirus/antispyware software to be installed on their web servers. How cheap can Indian bank companies go ? They are ripping the customer left right and center by charging them enormous amounts of fees on any and every possible thing they can think of, and then they become so frugal about their own site that they cant even maintain it properly. Guys, there are many FREE softwares available on net that they can install and keep their website protected.

I also wonder, if someone could infect their web servers with such malicious software, what about the banking data, transactions, customer’s personal info and account details etc, what about those ? Can hackers get access to them too ? My my, I am really worried now and so should you too.

My suggestion is to call your local account managers at local bank branch and ask them to provide you with details as to how they protect your identity and account information, what checks they have in place to not let the issue that happened with Bank Of India website to happen with you.

If this was to happen in US, it would have called for a class action lawsuit, but then again, India is India, mera bharat mahan.
