National Do Not Call Registry in India, my my !!!

Ok, I understand, everything must start from somewhere. I appreciate our government starting National Do Not Call Registry for Indian mobile users, here : http://ndncregistry.gov.in/ndncregistry/index.jsp

But couldnt our government be a bit more proactive and also take a dotcom name to redirect users to this page ? It would have made our life easier to remember, as they have nicknamed this service NDNCRegistry, a simple .com after that would have done it. And now someone else is reaping in the benefits of the same. Some other guy has registered this dot come and has startedĀ using this domain, pointed links to mobile operators to let people register with them, without ANY link to the Official NDNC registry website. Thats simply sad.

He has used Google Adsense all over his site and is misguiding the common man, making money in between. I think there should be somelaw to protect this. Dont you think ? I meanĀ I got confused and had to research a bit more to find the actual facts and the real website. Too bad the Economic Times editor and reporter did not do any fact checking before reporting the link to his website in their newspapers and even online. I mean comeon, if you are going to advertise someone in your story, atleast check the facts !!

Its also reported that 1 million people a day are signing up, wah wah !! Telemarketers will go out of business like this. But, how many of these people are actually not getting the calls after registering and how many of them actually are registering at the fake site ? who knows ? I would be careful to provide my info on any website unless I have checked some facts.

Here is the real site link again : http://ndncregistry.gov.in/ndncregistry/index.jsp
